By                                                                                                                                                 After presenting at the 3D fab+print Seminar last year, this year Christine Kinet from 3D-side will again speak during the 1-day Conference at COMPAMED / MEDICA that will be held on Monday, .

November 12 at Messe Düsseldorf

‘Regenerative medicine, possible with 3D printing?’ is the title of the  presentation  in which Christine will address how today surgical treatment can be individualized for each patient using 3D Printing.
Asked after her experience at the Seminar in 2017, Christine tells: “It was a very interesting seminar and a great opportunity for attendees to learn about various 3D printing technologies and the  solutions  as well as challenges these technologies pose in the medical field.” Christine first got in contact with Additive Manufacturing during her studies.

“I have studied biomedical engineering in Belgium

graduated in 2014, and during my studies I had the opportunity to discover the use of 3D printing in the medical field,” she tells.

1-Day Conference ‘AM in the medical world’ On Monday

November 12 the full-day 3D fab+print Conference on Additive Manufacturing for medical applications will be held at Messe Düsseldorf in Germany.

Eight speakers will talk about various topics relevant to AM for healthcare

including bioresorbable PLA-based polymers and 3D printed anatomical models.

The day will be rounded-off with a 1-hour Panel Discussion moderated by GE Additive
The one-day Conference will be held in room 814-A

which is on the 1st floor of Hall 8-B, Messe Düsseldorf, Germany.

“I will talk.

Together with Grégory Nolens from Cerhum

about the future of 3D printing.
If the human  mechanics  can already be mimicked using 3D printing, one might expect the possibility to 3D-print the human biology in the future,” she says.
“We will discuss our new R&D project to move closer to this future of 3D printing: the regenerative medicine.” Christine tells she looks forward to the Conference to learn and discuss new ideas and  development s in the medical 3D printing field, as well as to share experience with companies involved with the technology.
“One can expect that  the future  manufacturing mode will be fully patient-specific,” Christine continues.
“Indeed,  manufacturing  the same device for a population of patients has been the only way of producing implants.
With the additive manufacturing  revolution  and the decrease of costs, the solution has entered in the surgical theater.
This creates new challenges: how to design and manufacture just-in-time precisely what  the doctor  needs?” ‘Customize’.
About Christine Christine graduated as biomedical engineer and joined 3D-Side almost three years ago after a first medical 3D-printing experience at Materialise.
At 3D-Side, she is responsible for business development.
Assisting surgeons with patient-specific solutions, managing the international sales network and offering their 3D customization expertise to other companies are parts of her daily job.
Christine stresses that new information has to be produced, exchanged and validated.
“The device must be delivered on time (just in time logistics) for each treatment while it cannot be stocked.  Finally, it must be certified, for each manufacturing with specific regulations that apply.
This makes patient-specific devices a field where efficient communication, design and production are required.
And this is produced under strict regulations and certifications.” Christine concludes: “We took up this challenge to bring 3D technology to surgeons, and therefore to overcome these issues in communication, design and production.
In doing so.
